What's Opera, Doc

A long, long time ago, like sometime in July, my friend and colleague Christopher invited me to Cosi fan Tutte at Glyndebourne. Glyndebourne is located 54 miles south of London, near(ish) to Brighton, originally the home of the Christie family and now the home of summer opera. Here's a picture of the house and (part of) the gardens. The summer opera cast lives in residence here for six to eight weeks, rehearsing and performing. There's even a plan to power the Opera House with wind power, which is pretty cool.



Glyndebourne's dress code is black tie. During the interval one "dines" in the gardens on the often-extensive picnic one brings with oneself. Here's CJAM grinning over the feast we wolfed down.

A sheep wandered from over the field to scrounge for food. Clearly he thought cream cakes were more fun than grass.
